TOOTH WHITENING
Tooth whitening can provided by our office in one of two ways:
Light-assisted whitening consists of the application of a translucent bleaching gel to the teeth. An ultra bright white light is then used to activate the crystals in the gel to absorb the energy from the light and penetrate the teeth enamel to increase the lightening effect on the teeth. The length of time in the dental chair depends on the degree of discoloration you have.
At home bleaching (traditional): A customized mold of your teeth is fabricated - the bleaching tray. You are given a whitening gel to apply to the tray with instructions as to the length of time per day to wear the trays. The gel itself should be kept refrigerated for maximum preservation and effectiveness.
As a general rule, the yellow shades of discoloration respond better to tooth whitening than the gray shades.
KöR whitening system consists of multiple modalities which can be employed to meet the specific needs of the client: day and nighttime whitening, KöR Max, KöR Ultra, and KöR Ultra-T. This system has been demonstrated to work particularly well with gray staining resulting from tetracyline use.
We will help you decide which of these methods would be most effective for you.

CROWN AND BRIDGE and CORE BUILD UP
In a situation where there is not enough remaining solid tooth structure after decay and fragile tooth structure is removed, or the tooth has fractured and is now missing important architectural reinforcements, the tooth might very well require a crown.
A crown may be constructed to restore an individual damaged tooth back to it's original form and function, while a bridge may be utilized to replace one or more teeth. These restorations are cemented onto the teeth and are referred to as "fixed" dentistry as opposed to a restoration of missing teeth with a removable appliance or partial denture.
This process is typically accomplished in two visits. In the first visit, the tooth is prepared by smoothing away any decay or jagged edges. In the case where there is not enough tooth left to place a crown, the missing portion can be replaced and the tooth prepared for a crown by building it up with one of the new plastic resin materials (core buildup). An impression is then taken of the tooth from which a temporary crown can be fabricated. On the second visit, the permanent crown constructed by a dental laboratory will be cemented into place, adjustments made and the tooth restored to its full function.

GOLD INLAYS and ONLAYS
In some cases, the biting surface of a tooth is too severely damaged to make it possible to restore it with a dental filling without the risk of breaking the tooth. Gold as a filling material has many advantages.
- It shares expansion contraction properties similar to natural tooth structure. This is called the coefficient of thermal expansion. It results in less tooth cracking and damage over time.
- It has wear resistance similar to natural tooth structure maintaining a good biting surface over time without damaging the opposing teeth.
- It does not corrode and is highly polishable leaving a pleasant feeling in the mouth over time.
- Cast gold restorations don't just fill the tooth, they support the tooth from the crushing forces of chewing.
DENTAL IMPLANTS
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root typically made of titanium that a periodontist places into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth (crown) or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason. While high-tech in nature, dental implants are actually more tooth-saving than traditional bridgework, since implants do not rely on neighboring teeth for support.
There are three stages to the implant procedure. First, under local anesthesia, the implant device is surgically inserted into the upper and/or lower jaw bone. Second, after 2 to 6 months of wearing temporary teeth, the posts are attached to each implant. Finally, new teeth are made to the unique specifications of your face and mouth and secured to the implanted posts with precision attachments. Only the "tooth part" is visible. In our system of osseointegration, the meshing of implant and bone, a chemical and mechanical bond is formed allowing the jawbone to actually grow into the implant. Good candidates for implants require both the bony ridges in the jaw and the gum tissue to be healthy.

PERIODONTAL THERAPY
Periodontal Therapy is a specialized type of cleaning whereby the dentist and hygienist through a series of visits provide the client with a comfortable and pain free experience, then the hygienist proceeds with specialized instrumentation to remove the harmful bacteria from the pockets surrounding the tooth. This is how we can help the client to reverse gum disease.
THE THREE STAGES OF PERIODONTAL DISEASE
ESTHETIC CROWN LENGTHENING
The size of the front (anterior) teeth and the surrounding gum line play an important role in the appearance and esthetics of a person's smile. In the case of an actual client below, the gum line above the two front teeth appears to be enlarged and the size of the teeth, by comparison, are relatively short. With these two factors combined, the overall appearance is not pleasing. The after photograph shows PHASE 1 of the crown lengthening procedure. Already it is evident that the smile is improving in proportionality of tooth to gum. PHASE 2 will entail placing veneers over the anterior teeth to remove the diastema - space between front teeth.
