Surgically Clean Air
In addition to the measures listed below, we have installed highly sophisticated air purifiers, SURGICALLY CLEAN AIR, in treatment rooms. These world-class medical-grade air purifiers remove Chemicals, Toxins, Germs, Odors, and most importantly they kill airborne Viruses, to help reduce the spread of illness using a 6 stage filtration process.
STAGE 1
ANTI-MICROBIAL PRE-FILTER captures large particles from the air.
STAGE 2
DUAL STAGE ELECTRONIC CELL uses high voltage static electricity to remove moderate size dust particles and bacteria.
STAGE 3
DUAL ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER acts as a molecular sieve that traps and absorbs gases, liquids, and vapors.
STAGE 4
POWERFUL DUAL UV-C LIGHT BULBS destroy the DNA of micro-organisms, such as viruses, bacteria, mold and allergens.
STAGE 5
PHOTOCATALYTIC KILL CHAMBER incorporates titanium forming a honeycomb shape to create a kill chamber to destroy odors, organic chemicals (VOCs), mold, allergens and bacteria.
STAGE 6
NEGATIVE ION GENERATOR revitalizes and re-energizes the air as it leaves the unit to help your lungs better absorb clean air.

INSURANCE
While we do not participate as a provider with any insurance company, we do submit dental insurance claim forms on behalf of our patients as well as provide any assistance necessary to assure maximization of their benefits, including the submission of pre-treatment estimates.
A few facts about dental insurance:
Insurance is primarily designed to help us through catastrophic or unexpected events where there is the highest potential for uncontrolled costs. Most employers who contribute to group insurance plans, therefore, put the dollar emphasis on medical plans. Since dental health is an on-going preventive maintenance concern, quite often the schedule of allowances for dental benefits contains fees lower than the usual and customary fees charged in the locality. In fact, most group dental plans only cover between 30 and 60 percent of your cost. There are literally hundreds of plans, each one different, depending upon the amount you and/or your employer contribute.
We feel that the care, skill and judgment that we provide to our clients is well above the "usual and customary". We have chosen to practice in a way that is not driven by insurance. Hence, we do not double book clients or schedule in 10 minute increments since we are not motivated by the volume of clients we can serve in a day. We value your time and devote our full attention to you during your appointment. We feel that everyone deserves that.

PAYMENT
We do request payment on the day of service. We will submit any insurance claim forms necessary for direct reimbursement to the client.
We accept cash, checks and Visa, Mastercard and Discover (credit cards will incur a 3% extra fee).

BAD BREATH or TASTE
For the majority of people who have bad breath or a bad taste in their mouth, the single most frequent cause is from anaerobic bacteria - the kind of bacteria that require no oxygen to survive - and these microorganisms can flourish in the following areas:
Tooth decay (cavities) can also cause bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth. With poor dental hygiene, the same bacteria that cause bad breath are left on the tooth long enough to dissolve the tooth enamel eventually undermining the strength and integrity of the tooth.
For these reasons, regular hygiene visits consisting of plaque and tartar (hardened plaque) removal as well as bacteria located in pockets is critical for a person to maintain good dental health.
- "pockets" between the tooth and the gum line which can also cause periodontal disease and tooth loss,
- a layer of plaque formed on a tooth as thin as a dollar bill, and
- on the surface of the tongue.

IO RINSE
IO RINSE
is a patented, alcohol-free, and fluoride-free molecular iodine mouthwash designed to kill bacteria causing gingivitis, cavities, and bad breath. Recommended by professionals, it provides rapid relief for mouth sores and dry mouth,, is safe for daily use by adults and children, and works on contact.
Key Facts About ioRinse:
- Technology: Uses patented Molecular Iodine () technology, which is up to 33 times stronger than common povidone-iodine and highly effective against perio-pathogens.
- Benefits:
- Periodontal Care: Treats gingivitis and reduces periodontal bacteria to undetectable levels.
- Oral Health: Inhibits bad breath, aids in post-surgical healing, and treats canker sores.
- Non-Staining: Formulated to be non-staining despite using iodine.
- Usage: Rinse vigorously for 30 seconds and spit out. It is designed for both professional use and daily home care.
- Safety: Alcohol-free and safe for daily use for both adults and children. It is important not to swallow.
DIGITAL X-RAYS CUT RADIATION EXPOSURE
We use the Schick CDR (computed dental radiography) system of digitial films which uses small rounded plastic mouth sensors to send instant X-ray images to a computer monitor. This system cuts the amount of client radiation exposure by up to 90% and helps to protect the environment because it eliminates the use of harmful developing chemicals.
AMALGAMS - SILVER MERCURY FILLINGS
Although many dental offices have used these fillings until the recent past, we have not used amalgam filling material on our clients for over 30 years, when it was not popular to do so. Besides the obvious drawbacks of the material as follows:
we have chosen to eliminate the use of amalgams primarily because of the danger that mercury poses to the health of our clients, our team member and the environment. For more information on the dangers of silver mercury fillings visit: http://www.relfe.com/mercury.html
- it requires a larger carving out of the tooth than the size of the cavity in order to get the material to adhere properly to the tooth structure (hence weakening the tooth)
- it is aesthetically displeasing to have silver colored teeth,

THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT XYLITOL
Stops Cavities
Tooth decay is an infectious, bacterial disease. Bacteria are transmitted from parent to child, from sibling to sibling and from spouse to spouse. Harmful "acid-loving" bacteria (streptococcus mutans) cannot use xylitol as an energy source and are literally starved. Dental disease will never end unless these harmful bacteria are eliminated from the mouth.
Protects Enamel
Tooth damage and decay occur when mouth acidity is in the danger zone. Eat xylitol immediately after meals, snacks and drinks. Xylitol stimulates alkaline saliva to quickly neutralize acidity and protect teeth.
Remineralizes Teeth
Minerals in saliva flow into teeth (a process called remineralization) each time xylitol is eaten. Xylitol helps heal soft or damaged areas and rebuild tooth strength.
If children eat xylitol one year before their teeth are erupting, it will give them long-term protection for their new teeth.
Fights Plaque
Mouth dryness and acidity provide perfect conditions for cavities, dental damage and plaque buildup. Studies show that eating 6 grams (appx one teaspoon) of xylitol regularly remove harmful bacteria from dental plaque in about 5 weeks. In 6 months, 95 percent of the harmful bacteria will have gone. After two years of eating xylitol regularly, plaque bacteria will be less adhesive and plaque will stop forming on teeth.
